Less time on the basics.
More time on the work only you can do.
AccessA helps tourism businesses understand where they stand on accessibility before they call you. They arrive with evidence, priorities and a clearer brief, so your site visits and audits go further.
What AccessA is,
and what it isn't
AccessA is a maturity assessment. It shows a tourism business how accessible its whole visitor journey is, from the first web search to the visit itself and the follow-up, across 12 domains of the accessibility and inclusion spectrum. The business answers with photos and documents, and a reviewer checks the result. It is deliberately not an access audit.
AccessA does
- Give a broad, evidence-based picture across the whole visitor journey
- Show a business where it stands and what to improve first
- Collect photos, documents and the operator's own answers in one place
- Run an automated check of the business's website
- Track maturity over time, from one assessment to the next
AccessA doesn't, and leaves to you
- Take measurements on site
- Certify that a building, website or service meets any standard
- Replace a consultant's professional judgement or sign-off
- Replace manual digital accessibility testing
- Design solutions or specify works
The right-hand column is your work. AccessA is built to send businesses to it better prepared.
Clients arrive with the groundwork done
When a business finishes its AccessA assessment, it knows which domains need expert attention, and it already holds much of the information you would otherwise spend the first hours collecting. AccessA helps prepare and scope these engagements.
| Specialist engagement | How AccessA helps you prepare |
|---|---|
| Access audits of existing buildings against the Premises Standards, AS 1428 and the NCC access provisions | Photos of entrances, paths, ramps, lifts, bathrooms and rooms, plus the operator's own description, so you can plan the visit and quote accurately. |
| Access appraisals for upgrades and refurbishments | A ranked list of gaps across the site, so the appraisal starts from the business's real priorities. |
| Digital accessibility audits against WCAG 2.2 | Automated test results and the pages they ran on: a starting point for the manual testing only a specialist can do. |
| Disability Action Plans under the Disability Discrimination Act | A baseline across 12 domains, including policies, staff practice and communication, to build the plan on. |
| Accessible accommodation and room audits | Room-level photos and details, so you know which rooms to inspect and what to bring. |
| Sensory and neurodiversity assessments | The operator's answers on sensory environment, quiet spaces and preparation materials. |
| Wayfinding and signage audits | What the business already provides, and where visitors are likely to lose their way. |
| Access guides and accessibility information | Evidence you can verify and turn into accurate, published visitor information. |
| Staff training needs analysis | Where customer service and policy practice fall short, to shape the training brief. |
Better briefs in.
Visible results out.
Five ways AccessA fits around an access consulting practice.
Before the site visit
Ask your client to complete AccessA first and share their report. You see their results and gaps before you travel, and arrive with the right equipment, ready to measure and judge rather than discover.
To scope and quote
A clear picture of the site and its gaps means fewer surprises, tighter quotes and less unpaid scoping time.
As a first step for smaller clients
Many small tourism businesses can't justify a full audit until they know where they stand. AccessA gives them that first step, and shows where specialist help is worth paying for.
To show progress after your work
When a client reassesses, AccessA records how their maturity has moved. Your recommendations become visible results.
As a source of work
Every business that completes AccessA leaves with priorities. Many of them, from entrance upgrades to website fixes to action plans, need a specialist to deliver.
Independent review
behind every result
Every AccessA assessment is checked by a reviewer before the business sees its results. We are building a network of independent access professionals to take on that role, working in a dedicated reviewer portal.
Answers beside the evidence

AI-powered analysis that supports you

On-behalf assessment
Complete an assessment for an operator, during a site visit for example. Another reviewer then approves it.

Every result has a clear chain of review
- 1AssessedBy the operator, with evidence, or by a reviewer on the operator's behalf.
- 2ReviewedAn independent reviewer checks every answer against its evidence, supported by AI flags and the website check.
- 3ApprovedNo one approves their own work. An assessment completed by a reviewer is approved by a different reviewer.
A permanent record shows who assessed, reviewed and approved each assessment, and when.
People decide.
Evidence carries the weight.
People decide, AI assists
AI never rates an assessment on its own and is never accepted in bulk. Reviewers see why it flagged something and can disagree.
Evidence over assertion
An answer with no evidence is marked low confidence, however high the operator rated themselves.
Honest about limits
Results are labelled as a maturity assessment, never as meeting a standard, and point businesses to specialist advice where it's needed.

Frequently asked questions
Will AccessA replace access audits?
No. AccessA tells a business where it stands and what to look at. It doesn't measure, certify or design. When a business needs those, it needs you, and it will come to you knowing why.
Can a business use its AccessA result to say it meets a standard?
No. An AccessA result is a maturity level, and it is labelled that way. It is never presented as a statement that a building, website or service meets any standard or law.
Does the website check replace a WCAG audit?
No. Automated testing finds only some accessibility issues. It is a useful starting point, and manual testing by a specialist is still essential.
How do clients share their results with me?
Today a client shares their downloadable AccessA report with you. It sets out their maturity in each domain, their priorities and the gaps they found.
Can I recommend AccessA to my clients?
Yes, and we'd welcome it. Talk to us about how we can work together.
Can I be a reviewer and still run my own practice?
Yes. Reviewers are independent professionals. You won't review your own clients' assessments where that would be a conflict of interest.
How are reviewers engaged?
Talk to us. We are setting up the reviewer network now and will agree the arrangement with each reviewer.
Who wrote the AccessA Standard?
The AccessA team, drawing on experience in accessible tourism and disability travel. It is reviewed with access specialists as it evolves, and we'd value your input.
More prepared clients. Better briefs. Visible results.
Whether you'd like to recommend AccessA, review assessments, or help shape the Standard, we'd like to hear from you.
